The writer
describes a tiger who is caged in a zoo. She implies that his cage is small and
the tiger is furious for not being free. Then it is mentioned that he was not
born to be caged but to roam around in a grassy jungle , waiting to hunt a deer
or some other prey. He should be going about scaring people with his terror
showing off his teeth. But Alas, he is caged instead, behind bars where he can
do nothing but walk the little length of his cage, ignoring the visitors. He
sleeps late at night and listens to the noises of the city while his bright
eyes look at the bright stars.
